Here at Clayboro, we offer kiln firing services to the greater Carrboro community, no membership required.
From single pieces to full kiln rentals, only pay for the space you take.

We have 2 electric kilns that are fired at least once a week. Here’s the line up:
Skutt-KM 818 (18in x 18in x 18 in)
Skutt FireBox (8in x 8 in x 6in)

Only pay for the space you take — whether it’s one single piece or a full kiln’s worth of work, we’ve got you covered. Simply measure your work upon drop off, and we’ll take care of the rest!
Firing fees are calculated by cubic inch.
Non-Member Pricing:
Bisque Firing: $0.03 per cubic inch
Glaze Firing: $0.05 per cubic inch
Member Pricing:
Bisque Firing: $0.02 per cubic inch
Glaze Firing: $0.04 per cubic inch

Wanting to fire to a specific temperature? We’ve got you covered! With a full kiln rental, you can decide how it fires. Otherwise, hop into one of our community firings at cone 04 for bisque or cone 6 for glaze!

At Clayboro Studios, we take great care when firing your pieces. That said, some things are simply out of our control. Clayboro Studios is not responsible for pieces that crack, break, explode, or have unexpected results during firing. Damage to kilns or kiln shelves may result in additional fees.
Clayboro Studios is not responsible for work that goes missing. Please be sure to pick up your work within 14 days of completion.
Firing Service Guidelines
• All work should be clearly marked with your maker’s mark.
• Work must be completely dry before firing. Wet greenware cannot be fired.
• The bottoms of pieces must be free of glaze.
• If your work damages a kiln shelf, additional fees will be owed.
• If a shelf is damaged beyond repair, the cost of replacement will be owed.
• Makers are responsible for any damage their work causes to kilns or kiln shelves.
