Ready to level up your abilities on the wheel? This 4-week intermediate-level class guides you step-by-step in the creation of complex forms on the wheel, focusing on narrow-neck bottles and lidded jars.

Techniques include:

  • Throwing tall, controlled cylinders

  • Creating narrow-necked bottles and vases

  • Crafting jars and lidded forms

  • Creating chucks

  • Trimming complex forms

  • Glazing complex forms

This class is ideal for folks who already know the fundamentals of wheel throwing and are looking to level-up their skill set. Students must be able to center and pull walls independently.

  • What happens in the class?

    Over the course of 4 weeks, your instructor will guide you step-by-step in crafting narrow-neck forms and lidded vessels. You will learn how to create securely fitting lids, collar in cylinders, trim complex forms, and glaze complex forms.

    What’s included?

    Each 4-week class comes with small class sizes and expert instruction. Clay, tools, glazes, and firings are all included in your workshop. Students have unlimited access the studio during our Open Studio Hours to continue working on their pieces between classes.

    How do I prepare?

    Wear comfortable clothes that you’re okay with getting little messy. The clay will wash out, but the memories last a lifetime.

    Long hair? You’ll want to tie it back. Rings, watches, and bracelets can be tucked away for the duration of your class.

    Where can I park?

    You can take advantage of the free public parking located all around Carrboro.

  • Clayboro Studios is not liable or responsible for any accidental injury to students or any loss or damage to personal possessions.

    Students must collect work within 30 days of the conclusion of their class. After 30 days, pieces are subject to removal from the premises.

    Ceramics can be unpredictable. Sometimes things go wrong in the kiln. While we do all we can to keep your pieces safe, Clayboro Studios cannot guarantee satisfactory results.

  • Should you need to cancel your booking, you will receive a full refund if cancelation request is made at least 1 week prior to class. Cancelations made within 1 week of class are not eligible for a refund. There is a $30 fee for rescheduling requests made within 1 week of original class time.
